Dr. Amalia Miliou is an Associate professor at the Dept. of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (PhD., MSc. Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Florida, USA and BSc. in Physics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). Her research interests include simulation of optoelectronic circuits, optical switching, optical RAM, converged fiber-wireless technology, 5G networks, and secure optical communications using chaos.
She is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed journals and conference papers and she has actively participated in several research projects funded by the European Commission, NATO as well as the Greek government as a coordinator and as a senior researcher. Dr. Miliou has served as Program Committee member in several international conferences. She is senior a member of IEEE.

Dr. Nikos Pleros joined the faculty of the Department of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in September 2007, where he is currently serving as an Assistant Professor. He obtained the Diploma and the PhD Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2000 and 2004, respectively.
His research interests include optical interconnect technologies and architectures, photonic integrated circuit technologies, optical technologies for disaggregated data center architectures and high-performance computing, silicon photonics and plasmonics, optical signal processing, optical switching and fiber-wireless technologies and protocols for 5G mobile networks. He has more than 250 archival journal publications and conference presentations including several invited contributions, while his work has been cited >2600 times (, h-index=28, GS source). He has held positions of responsibility at several major conference committees including ECOC, OFC and SPIE Phootonics West. Dr. Pleros has coordinated several FP7 and H2020 European projects including ICT-STREAMS, PlasmoFab, RAMPLAS, PLATON and 5G-PHOS, while he has participated as partner in more than 10 additional projects. He has received the 2003 IEEE Photonics Society Graduate Student Fellowship granted to 12 PhD candidates world-wide in the field of photonics, while he was proud to (co-) supervise three more Fellowship winners (Dr. D. Fitsios in 2014, Dr. C. Vagionas in 2016 and Dr. P. Maniotis in 2017) during their PhD. Dr. Pleros was recently awarded the AUTH Excellence Award for his research project funding ID between 2016-2018. He was also awarded the 15th prize in the Greek Mathematical Olympiad in 1993. He is a member of the IEEE Photonics Society and the IEEE Communications Society.

Dr. Konstantinos Vyrsokinos, is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Physics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He received the B.Sc. degree in Physics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and the Ph.D. degree from the ECE Department at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. He has been among the founding members of WinPhoS research group located at Center for Interdisciplinary Research of AUTH.
His research interests include among others, optical interconnects, optical switching, photonic integration technology, high speed transceivers and photonic sensing. He has authored or co-authored more than 110 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences and his research work is acknowledged by more than 750 external citations with an h-index of 16 according to Scopus. Dr. Vyrsokinos has long experience in National (PHORTRAN, PhosInRAM, PENED2003) and EU funded research project (ICT-MAASTART, ICT-PLATON, ICT- PHOXTROT, ICT-L3MATRIX, ICT-BOOM, ICT-DICONET, IST-APACHE, IST-MUFINS, IST-LASAGNE). Currently he is coordinating H2020 ICT MOICANA research project dealing with the monolithic photonic integration of Quantum Dot InP lasers on SiN platform for the delivery of high efficient photonic transmitters.

Dr. Kostas Siozios received his Diploma, Master and Ph.D. Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, in 2001, 2003 and 2009, respectively. Currently, he is Assistant Professor at Department of Physics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
His research interests include Low-Power Hardware Accelerators, Resource Allocation, Machine Learning, Decision-Making Algorithms, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and IoT for Smart-Grid. He has published more than 130 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Also, he has contributed in 5 books of Kluwer and Springer. The last years he works as Project Coordinator, Technical Manager or Principal Investigator in numerous research projects funded from the European Commission (EC), European Space Agency (ESA), as well as the Greek Government and Industry.

Dr. Leandros Tassiulas is Professor of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at Yale University, USA. He obtained the Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece in 1987,and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1989 and 1991, respectively. He has held faculty positions at Polytechnic University New York, University of Maryland College Park, University of Ioannina and University of Thessaly in Greece. His current research is on intelligent services and architectures at the edge of next generation networks including Internet of Things, sensing & actuation in terrestrial and non-terrestrial environments and quantum networks. He worked in the field of computer and communication networks with emphasis on fundamental mathematical models and algorithms of complex networks, wireless systems and sensor networks. His most notable contributions include the max-weight scheduling algorithm and the back-pressure network control policy, opportunistic scheduling in wireless, the maximum lifetime approach for wireless network energy management, and the consideration of joint access control and antenna transmission management in multiple antenna wireless systems. Dr. Tassiulas is fellow of IEEE (2007) and ACM (2020); he received several awards, including the IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computer and Communications Award (2016) for contributions to the scheduling and stability analysis of networks, the ACM Sigmetrics Achievement Award (2020), the inaugural IEEE INFOCOM Achievement award (2007) for “Fundamental contributions to resource allocation in communication networks” a Bodosaki Foundation award (1999) and numerous best paper awards. Dr. George Kalfas received his Diploma and M.Sc. degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2005 and 2010, respectively, both in computer science, and the Ph.D. degree in Signal Theory and Telecommunications from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in 2017. From November 2006 up to 2012 he has been with the Informatics and Telematics Institute, Helenic Center for Research and Technology, as a Research Assistant where he worked in numerous European and Greek research projects.
Since 2013 he is working as a research associate in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and he is currently involved in three European research projects in the area of 5G communications. His main research interests involve MAC layer protocols, topology and architectures for converged Fiber/Wireless networks. According to Google Scholar he has a total of 552 citations and an h-index of 13.

Dr. Agapi Mesodiakaki holds a MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece and a Ph.D. from the Signal Theory and Communications Department (TSC) of the Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain. Her Ph.D. dissertation was awarded as one of the best dissertations of the year receiving a Special doctoral award. Since January 2018, Agapi has been a Senior Researcher at the department of Informatics of AUTH. She has authored more than 60 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. Since September 2020, she serves also as an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering of the International Hellenic University, teaching a variety of undergraduate courses, while supervising several BSc/MSc thesis. Her main research interests include Beyond 5G and 6G sustainable networks, energy-efficient radio resource management (RRM), mmWave bands, converged fiber-wireless networks and integrated terrestrial non-terrestrial networks.

Dr. Chris Vagionas is an Electrical and Computer Engineer (2008). He obtained his M.Sc. in Networks, Communication and Systems Architecture at the Department of Informatics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2011. His postgraduate thesis concerned the study and simulation of light propagation in semiconductor optical amplifiers (S.O.A.).
Since April 2011 he is a Research Assistant at Informatics and Telematics Institute (ITI) of the Centre for research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). His research interests are optical communications, optical RAM and photonic technology.

Dr. Dimitra Ketzaki received her Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece in 2009. In 2015, she received her PhD degree on the «Development of computational techniques for the analysis and design of microwave and photonic structures incorporating resonant elements and formations with artificial electric and magnetic properties» from the same department.
During her PhD studies Dr. Ketzaki was awarded with the Excellence Grant for PhD students by Research Committee of AUTH. In 2015, she received an individual Postdoctoral fellowship from the Research Committee of AUTH in the topic of «Numerical simulation and analysis of plasmonic components». Since 2016, Dr. Ketzaki works as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Wireless and Photonic Systems (WinPhoS) research group in the area of plasmonics and photonics design and computational analysis participating in EU-Horizon 2020 research programs. Her research interests include the numerical electromagnetic analysis and design of photonic and plasmonic structures leading so far to several publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences and a patent application as co-inventor (No. 20170100088).

Dr. A. Totović

Dr. Angelina Totović was born in 1988 in Kragujevac, Serbia. She received her BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering (Nanoelectronics and Photonics), at the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, Serbia, in 2011, 2013 and 2018, respectively. From 2012 to 2018 she was a Teaching and Research Assistant at the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade. She joined WinPhos group at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2018.
During the PhD studies, in 2016, she was awarded the Scholarship by Coimbra Group Universities through the Programme for Young Researchers from European Neighbouring Countries, through which she was a Visiting Researcher at the Photonics and Electromagnetics Group of the Department of Information Engineering at the University of Padova, Italy. In 2017 she was awarded the Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship by SPIE Society. Dr. Totović has been working on developing and implementing stable, robust and memory/time efficient algorithms for modeling and simulation of semiconductor optical amplifiers on device level, which were further transferred to the system level analysis. She was engaged in research on RSOA-based fiber cavity lasers. Her current research interests include neuromorphic photonics and exploitation of SOAs for colorless and energy-efficient optical access networks. She has authored/coauthored one chapter and more than 15 research papers. She received several scientific awards for her work.

Dr. Dimosthenis Spasopoulos holds a BSc degree in Physics, an MSc in Photonics and a PhD in Physics from the University of Ioannina (UoI) Greece. His PhD thesis concerned the development of localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) based optical fiber sensors.
Since January 2020, Dr Spasopoulos has worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Wireless and Photonic Systems and Networks (WinPhos) research group at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Throughout his time as a PhD and postdoctoral researcher, he has participated in and contributed to several national and European research projects. His research interests include optical fiber sensors, the interaction of laser beams with nanoparticles and the development of plasmonic based sensors.

Dr. Miltiadis Moralis-Pegios received the B.Sc. degree and the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, in 2011 and 2013, respectively. In 2020 he received his PhD degree in “Silicon-based Photonic Integrated Circuits and High-Capacity Switching Systems for DataCenters Interconnects” from the Department of Informatics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH).
He has been involved on several tasks of the EU-funded projects PhoxTroT, L3MATRIX,ICT-STREAMS and MOICANA, while his research interests include large-scale switching architectures for datacenter applications, silicon photonic interconnects for datacenter and high-performance computing systems and neuromorphic photonics. From 2020 he is working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Photonic Systems and Networks group in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Evangelia Chatzianagnostou obtained her Diploma degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2012 and her MSc degree in “Networks, Communication and Systems Architecture” from the Department of Informatics of the same university in 2014.

Marios Gatzianas obtained his Diploma and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2000 and 2009, respectively, and the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in 2002. He has worked as a Post-doctoral Researcher in the Centre of Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), Thessaloniki, Greece, from 2009 to 2011, and the School of Information and Communication Systems, EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland, from 2012 to 2014 and has also been an Adjunct Lecturer in the International Hellenic University from 2015 to 2018.
Since September 2017, he has been working as a post-doctoral researcher in the Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation of AUTH participating in 3 EU-funded research projects. His research interests include cross-layer optimization and control of wireless networks, with emphasis on algorithm analysis/design, information theory, and next generation cellular systems design and performance analysis. Ronis Maximidis received a Diploma degree in electrical and computer engineering and a master degree in communication and satellite telecommunication systems from the Democritus University of Thrace, Xanthi, Greece, in 2011 and 2014, respectively. From 2010-2014 he worked on the development of a technique for characteristic mode analysis of the composite metal-dielectric structure and its use for MIMO antenna design.
In 2021 he received a PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology, for the development of design techniques of multibeam antenna arrays with significantly reduced mass volume and cost. The work was performed in the framework of the project "Multibeam Antenna with Overlapped Subarrays" and is supported by European Space Agency (ESA) and the Antenna Company. From 2021 he is working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Photonic Systems and Networks group in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His main research interests include antennas, microwave/mmwave engineering, fiber-wireless convergence.

Stefanos Kovaios received his B.Sc. degree in Physics from the School of Physics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2016 and his joint M.Sc. degree in Physics from the University of Amsterdam and the Vrije University of Amsterdam in 2020. His M.Sc. thesis, completed in the “Resonant Nanophotonics” group at AMOLF NWO institute, Amsterdam, concerned the spatial programming of gain in plasmonic lattices and metasurfaces.
Since 2021 he is a PhD candidate at the School of Informatics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a member of the WinPhos research group. His research interests focus on optical communications and integrated photonic systems.

Dimitris Palianopoulos graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (B.Sc. Computer Science) in 2005 and from Liverpool John Moores University (M.Sc. Web Computing) in 2006. As programmer he has been involved in several projects for software companies in Thessaloniki and Athens. Additionally he has been occupied in the public sector. Also he has teaching experience in primary, secondary and higher education.
He is member of WinPhoS since 2018. He supports the research of the Lab by: Programming simulations of the 5G Protocols designed by WinPhoS researchers, Developing the websites of the Lab and its Projects, Administering the online presence of the Lab.
