The WINPHOS Research Group at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is inviting applications for two fully funded PhD positions in the field of Photonic Neural Networks and Photonic AI Accelerators.
Research Focus:
The successful candidates will engage in experimental and theoretical research on photonic neural networks and photonic AI accelerators, including:
- • Designing and setting up experiments to evaluate photonic neural network architectures
- • Designing and experimentally characterizing Photonic Integrated Circuits for Neural Network applications
- • Contributing to the design and optimization of photonic devices and network layouts used for neural network applications
- • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team on integrated photonic circuit experiments
- • Collaborating with WinPhos’ academic and industrial partners within the frame of EU research projects
Qualifications:
- • A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Informatics or a related field
- • A solid foundation in optics and photonics. Basic knowledge on optical communications and/or neural networks is considered as a plus.
- • Hands-on experience with experimental setups in photonic devices is a plus
- • Interest in neural network and AI models
- • Strong motivation to work in an interdisciplinary research team and perform cutting-edge research
- • Only citizens with nationality from European countries can be accepted in these two positions.
